The true story of a young Hasidic Jew who wandered out of his cloistered Williamsburg, Brooklyn neighborhood and stumbled upon a drunken performance by rocker Vic Thrill in a hole-in-the-wall bar. Intrigued, he sticks around and ends up befriending Vic Thrill, who reluctantly gives him a crash course in MTV and pop culture, and helps him become a glam rock superstar named “Curly Oxide”.
After the story was featured on this episode of NPR’s This American Life, Tina Fey took it to Lorne Michaels (of Saturday Night Live fame) who bought the rights and attached Tina to write the screenplay and Sasha Baron Cohen to star as Chaim, the Hasidic Jew. But when Vic Thrill was unable to finish (or start) the book for Random House publishing the project died on the shelf. But after tracking down Vic and conducting over 30 hours of recorded interviews, as a WRITING COACH & GHOST WRITER, I helped him revive the project, outlined the book, and wrote the First Chapter which got a green-light from both Vic and his book agent at Random House, but unfortunately Vic never finished the rest of the book and it died on the vine.
